Abhishek Pandey (He/Him)

What does climate activism mean to you?

For me climate activism means to work towards a sustainable, better future without harming our nature + to demand climate action and for our upcoming generation to have a better future.

Why did you join Fridays For Future Digital?

I joined the FFFD movement so that I can demand climate action. If we’re working collectively, we become stronger and can raise our voices more effectively.

Anneroos Van Der Kaaij (She/Her)

What does climate activism mean to you?

To me, climate activism is about educating people and bringing awareness to environmental problems (and things that influence this – intersectionality) and inspiring change. Whether this change is small or large, if itโ€™s quantifiable or a mindset, everything counts.

Why did you join Fridays For Future Digital?

I joined FFFD because I want to inspire that change, surround myself with people who have similar values and goals as me and to educate myself. This online platform with climate activists was not only a good way to stay active during the pandemic, but also to interact with people from all over the world and broaden ones perspective on the struggle for climate justice.

Brooke Westbury (She/Her)

What does climate activism mean to you?

Climate activism to me, in the simplest form, is caring about people. Many people are suffering from climate change all over the world, and in my own town. I feel an urgency to help & to make other people aware that climate change affects them.

Why did you join Fridays For Future Digital?

I joined FFFD in the summer of 2020, where I started working in JEDI helping out with mental health projects. Today I work with JEDI and also in onboarding.

Emma Banksworth (Hen/Any)

What does climate activism mean to you?

Nature is me; Mother Nature is the only thing I can relate to. She is divine and is one of the best friends I’ve ever had, loyal and true to herself. Seeing how we are killing her makes me despondent, but knowing that climate activists are coming together to save her is astonishing. The climate community is one of the greatest things to happen in her time and I’m so grateful that I am able to help conserve her beauty.

Why did you join Fridays For Future Digital?

I joined Fridays For Future Digital to give support and tenderness to our incredible community of activists. Along with opening myself new opportunities to learn, discover, and growth with the environment around us.

What does climate activism mean to you?

Climate activism means helping people. It means doing whatever I can to improve people’s lives for the better, in the present and the future.

Why did you join Fridays For Future Digital?

I joined Fridays for Future Digital because it was an accessible way for me to participate in the climate movement. It also allows me to help in the way I know how, graphic design.

Frank Granda (He/Him)

What does climate activism mean to you?

Climate activism is needed to enact change to better our communities against the consequences of climate change. The climate crisis is an extensional threat to humanity and so we must treat the issue as so.

Why did you join Fridays For Future Digital?

I joined FFFD because I want to help combat the climate crisis in any way I can. I mainly work in the JEDI and logistics side of FFFD.

Jessi Kitchen (He/All)

What does climate activism mean to you?

As both a Zoology student and a person who has experienced effects of climate change first-hand, I know exactly how important it is to fight it. I fully believe climate activism is one of the only, if not THE only, way to ensure a livable future for all of us – and I’m certain that we can do it.

Why did you join Fridays For Future Digital?

I joined FFFD because I wanted to help fight climate change and knew I would be less effective alone, but I had no access to local organisations – FFFD provided me  with a way into the climate movement that I would otherwise never have had. Within FFFD I’ve written articles, assisted campaigns, and coordinated our Research department… and made a lot of great friends along the way.
